How to Add Countdown Timers to Klaviyo Flows and Campaigns

Klaviyo's drag-and-drop editor makes it easy to embed images in emails. Since flashtimer generates a standard animated GIF served from a URL, adding a countdown timer to any Klaviyo campaign or flow takes less than two minutes.

Step 1: Create your timer in flashtimer

Log in to flashtimer and create a new timer. Set your end date and time, choose your design theme, and copy the GIF URL from the share panel.

Step 2: Open your Klaviyo campaign or flow email

In the Klaviyo editor, drag an Image block into the email where you want the timer to appear. Click the image block and paste your flashtimer GIF URL into the Image URL field.

Don't upload the GIF as a file — use the URL directly. This is what makes the timer live: every time an email is opened, Klaviyo fetches the current GIF from flashtimer's servers, which recalculates the remaining time for that exact moment.

Step 3: Link the timer to your sale page

Set the image link on the timer block to your flash sale collection or landing page URL. Clicking the timer should take subscribers directly to the offer.

Step 4: Set your alt text

Add descriptive alt text like "48 hours left in our flash sale" for subscribers whose email clients block images. Some ESPs (including some mobile clients) block animated GIFs by default — alt text ensures your message still lands.

Using timers in Klaviyo flows

Countdown timers work especially well in:

The timer in a flow always shows the correct remaining time at the moment the email is opened, not when it was sent — so a subscriber who opens on day two of your three-day sale sees the correct 24 hours remaining, not the original 72.
